BWA Water Additives scientist Dr Suresh Patel will present a paper entitled, ‘Antiscalants for the Future Development of Thermal and Membrane Desalination’ at Ocean 2012 in Dalian, China, on September 21, 2012. Dr Patel’s presentation will reveal the latest advances in high-temperature antiscalant technology for desal applications and a vision for the future technology development.

A frequently requested speaker at desalination and water-related conferences, Dr Patel completed his PhD at Loughborough University, followed by postdoctoral research at Imperial College, London University. Dr Patel is a Technology Manager in the Research and Development Laboratories of BWA Water Additives in Manchester, UK, since 1988. His main areas of work are on antiscalants and corrosion inhibitors for water treatment and in particular thermal and membrane desalination. He has six patents and over 20 publications in water treatment.

BWA has been a pioneer in desalination technologies since 1973. In thermal desalination, Belgard antiscalant and antifoulant polymers are based on BWA’s enhanced maleate technology and continue to be the most widely used globally in MSF and MED systems. For Reverse Osmosis, Flocon antiscalant polymers, microbiological control agents and membrane cleaners are approved by leading membrane manufacturers worldwide. Belgard & Flocon ranges are all certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60.
