Radar level sensor for water and sewage sector

VEGAPULS WL 61 is a new radar sensor developed by VEGA Grieshaber for use in the for the water and wastewater sectors, as an alternative to commonly used ultrasonic sensors and hydrostatic pressure transmitters. VEGA claims that radar technology offers considerable advantages over ultrasonic as it is unaffected by temperature, wind, fog or rain, while its much higher accuracy makes a big difference in applications likeflow-rate measurement in open channels, where the measuring ranges are sometimes very small. Application possibilities for the new radar sensor extend from level measurement in pump shafts or rain overflow basins to flow-rate measurement in open channels to level measurement of rivers and lakes.

According to a statement issued by VEGA, the cable and housing of VEGAPULS WL 61 conform to protection safety rating of IP 66/68 (1 bar). Different mounting options enable the sensor to be integrated into existing infrastructure.
